Adopted an orphan that had family roots to me now what?

I am definitely a newbie.  I think I'm becoming more newbie than less as I try to put my family (Smith) together.

There was a profile that I thought needed merged and as I was looking for it's id I noticed it was orphaned. So I thought ok adopt it.

1. I already had a profile i started with.  Immediately after adoption I can't find my original (OK cause I was going to merge them). Does the adoption process automatically merge?

2.  The date of birth is in the 1600's, do I have to coordinate or what? I am working on too many family projects and probably wouldn't be able to give it the time it might need.

Hi Jerri... nice to meet you.  Welcome to WikiTree :)

1. No, merges will not happen automatically when you adopt.  Merges must be manually entered.

2. You can find all of the profiles you manage (and more) on your WatchList:  http://www.wikitree.com/index.php?title=Special:WatchedList&p=12389346

Another very useful list is Contributions:  http://www.wikitree.com/index.php?title=Special:Contributions&who=Smith-98130

I hope this helps.  Have a great day!

I don't know about Margaretha, there doesn't seem to be a duplicated for her, but the two above look the same.

Are these the same? Has some of the same siblings.

Looks like they are siblings to me. Maria has the father attached, Margaretha has the mother attached. Look at sibling Michael, he has both parents attached.

I suppose her name might be Maria Margaretha, but I wouldn't merge them without some evidence, one way or the other

I looked harder today and there are a lot of similarities but there are many differences also.  I'm thinking it could be 1/2 siblings, Mixed

Since I am not sure should I just leave it alone?

Thank you for pointing this out to me.  I did an unmatched ... I will have to do some research to decide what information is right...
Thank you so much!
Yes an unmerged match is ok. I would note the concerns in the biography.

Hello, Jerri!

I don't think your second question was addressed. If I read it correctly, you are asking about editing privileges for pre-1700 and pre-1500 profiles.

Since you are pre-1700 certified, you can edit open profiles back to 1500; but you would need pre-1500 certification to go back any further (or to assist in error correction for typos that have a pre-1500 date - seems to happen a lot!!).

Without pre-1500 certification, you would need to request help - or coordination, as you put it. But don't worry - we WikiTreers are always ready and willing to help each other when needed!
