Tried to adopt Ray-1860 but no luck [closed]

After completing the unresponsive profile manager request for Ray-1860 and waiting the allotted time to hear back, I received this email.

"Unresponsive Profile Manager for Ray-1860"

"This profile and all Public and Open profiles on this family line have been
orphaned and are available for adoption." 

 I then tried to adopt  Ray-1860 but it is still green and has a profile manager listed.  (The same pm who has been inactive since 2013.) Neither this profile or any of his ancestors show up on the orphaned list.

Next I replied to the http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/WikiTree_Team  with a message explaining that the profile is not open and asked for assistance. It was suggested in the response that I read the help pages or ask in G2G. 

So here I am.  I would like to adopt this profile, but don't really know what I am doing wrong.  I thought I had followed all the necessary steps and filled out all the forms.  I was pretty sure of that when I got the email.  Now, I'm not so certain.

All I want to do is connect my great grandmother to her father. (Ray-1860). I don't really care whether I am on the trusted list or the pm, I just want to be able to connect her to her family and to add sources for them.

What should be my next step?  Any thoughts?

I'd reply to the email you got that said it was open. Even though it told you to look on help pages, this request needs to be answered by WikiTree staff.

Thanks for the answer.  This is what I had decided to do, but the response I got didn't sound as if that was the preferred action. I guess I will try again.
