Well, the fuctionally named subgroups are for those that pertain to their titles.  Tech is for computer program questions, Policy and style for how to create and improve your profiles; Request for Project Volunteers for working on projects; that is groupings of profiles and information related to such groups; Requests for Genealogy Help mostly for help with your own family tree and any general questions or chitchat goes into The Tree House.  While I look at the overall G2G, some people don't want to spend time reading through everything and thus just read individual sections,  So you're best off to place your questions in the section which best describes what you have interest in so the people best able to answer your question will all see it.  But you may want to read everything, at least at first, so you can get a taste of everything.... Oh, BTW, you can see a quick definition of what is in each section by placing your mouse courser for a second over the section at the top of the screen.
