Yes, they had been gutting fish or else drying them.  She is the person 2nd from the end on row 3  on left & her daughter is 2nd front the end on row 2 on right.  

These people worked so hard it.  It is difficult to imagine for me.  Thank you for your interest

That is a very exciting photo, and very old. I always are very exciting looking at old photos like this, it really tell a story and must be even more exciting when they are old family member

Thank you very much.  Yes it is an old photo and was lucky to have my cousin let me copy it when in Shetland in May of this year.  It was a beautiful trip and we were so well treated.  Got quite a few pictures whilst there.

I think it is wonderful when you can receive photo like this, thank god you can copy photo. What a treat to travel to Shetland must have been very exciting and wonderful to hear you had a great trip. I do love the photo you have on here. Really a treat

Are those apron dresses on the women and what are they holding. It looks like it is at a workplace. Great old family photo. Thanks for sharing.

I believe they are holding fish!  Unsure if they are aprons but probably as they were gutting fish.
