I have my GED Compare and wondering what I should do next?

Hello. I hope I introduced myself when I began here a couple of weeks ago. Problem is, I don't remember!

I have enjoyed being on Wiki Tree and I'm slowly learning my way around.

I have my GED Compare and I'm wondering what I should do next?

Thanks for the help and I'm looking forward to not only helping myself but help others find their families.

Hi Patricia, Welcome to wikitree :)

Now you have your GedCompare you have to meticulously go through it and check to see if there are any of your family members/ancestors already profiled on wikitree. You will see 3 icons to the right of any possible matches. Each icon has a different function. First one is to compare the 2 profiles side by side. If it looks like a match then check it out further by looking at the matching profile more closely. If it is a match then please choose the first option and collaborate on the profile. There must be only one profile per person. If it is not a match then choose the last option (red in color). Any profiles without a birth date or with no date at all will be automatically skipped as will profiles dated 1500. All the instructions are within the gedcom help files. Once you have completed the compare, you can then decide to either add manually or go ahead and import it. If you import it you must click the large green button. Once you have sent it for import approval you need to wait until you get an email either approving it or asking you to fix something first. There is only one very busy volunteer doing this process so please be patient :)

Happy wikitreeing
