Hi,

I am sort of new (I had an account in 2011 but just used GEDCOM and never did anything after that), I am now trying to add sources but unsure if its ok how I have done it in this profile, Could someone tell me if its ok?

I was going to add a biography but I am not so good with writing.

thanks

Thanks for the replies, I will use family search if I cannot find a better source, I have actually looked at FreeBMD before but had forgotten it.

Hi Ben, thanks so much for coming back and working on sourcing your original GEDCOM profiles. That's wonderful.

The two sources you have are okay. They're a bit derivative-- an index citing yet another index, which cites original records. But still good clues for further research.

Perhaps others here, more familiar with 20th century British records, can suggest even stronger sources.

Hey Ben -

That looks good for sources.

This is pretty much the same thing that I do in terms of copying citations from Familysearch.  I never added sources to Wikitree until Familysearch started making these citations available.  Now, I add these to all of the profiles that I work on:

As far as writing a bio goes, that decision is ultimately up to you.  I typically only write a bio for profiles of people whom I have researched extensively.  For ancestors that I don't know as well, I will sometimes add their obituary - like I did for this ancestor who died in 1905 and had an obituary published in the Pittsburgh Press:

Hi Ben,

Perhaps you could use http://www.freebmd.org.uk as your source & include the relevant details i.e. year, quarter, etc. Most of the entries have a link to an image of the actual register page for verification which is not available through FamilySearch or Find My Past (without a subscription)
