These were my GG grandparents both born in Ireland abt 1870 1871. I want to say county cork but not positive.    They emmigrated to New York and married in Manhattan on Jan 22 1896.   After that they only appear in one census with my Great Grandmother and her brother, Sarah and timothy Cavanagh they were ages 3 and 1.     Last week I found documents from an Almshouse in kings county brooklyn for a Mary Cavanagh age 30 that states that she is widowed and paralayzed due to sickness.   We are almost positive its my grandmother because the contact info that was put down was a MRs. Ward with an address and my grandfather remembers s Mrs. Ward who used to take care of Mary Roche.

We were always told conflicting stories about how Timothy and Mary Cavanagh died, we were told they were killed in a car accident and such.   My Great Grandmother and her brother were orphaned for a brief time until their aunt Kate Roche came and got them out of the orphanage and raised them, and did find one census that confirms the two of them living with Kate Roche in Queens.    Kate Roche was supposedly a maid or servant in manhattan and never married.    I cannot find the orphan paperwork, death certificates causes of death nothing?????    I am also hitting a wall with further knowing the Roche tree I have no Idea who mary's parents were.     My mother remembers that there were two aunt Kate roches in two generations, and that there was an aunt Julia as well. but thats all we know.

any help is greatly appreciated.

Hello Michelle,

There is in existance an "official" Clann Chaomhánach. I highly recommend that you contact the Clann on Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/Clann-Chaomh%C3%A1nach-116590681688613/.  There is a Clann Genealogist that may be able to help you with learning more about Timothy Kavanagh and Mary Roche and their life in Ireland.

I'll have a looksee on FindMyPast and see if I can turn up anything for you.  The marriage record below does give the names of both sets of parents so it should help you in searching.

In the meantime I did find this marriage transcript for Timothy and Mary and several others records listed for the births of their children on familysearch.  https://familysearch.org/search/record/results?count=20&query=%2Bgivenname%3ATimothy~%20%2Bsurname%3ACavanagh~%20%2Bbirth_place%3AIreland~%20%2Bbirth_year%3A1865-1875~%20%2Bfather_givenname%3ATimothy~%20%2Bfather_surname%3ACavanagh~%20%2Bmother_givenname%3AMary~%20%2Bmother_surname%3AWalsh~
