My great Grandfather, Andrew Daniel Flug, was born in Bergen,  Norway in 04/1883 to a Daniel Olsen. My mother heard that He has the surname of Flug because that was the farm his parents worked on.Can someone help be with this?

You probably have seen his obit listed on his FindAGrave Memorial, http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=150704840&ref=acom

& his marriage record which lists his parents as Daniel Olsen & Andrea Johanneson

A death certificate, immigration record or birth certificate may give the true answer.

I have seen the death certificate and marriage license, and i also have his WW2 draft card but they all list him as Andrew Flug. I really need to try to find an immigration record which may show his true last name. I am having a hard time with the way Norwegian's did surnames, I.E. if you are lars' son your last name became larson or hansdatter if you are hans' daughter. Would he have been born Danielson, if his father was Daniel?
Danielson was probably his true surname.
I emailed the archives in Bergen Norwa

We have checked our records and found this:

His name in Norway was: Andreas Danielsen Fluge.

He was the son of Daniel Olsen, and Andrea Johannesdatter. His parents lived on a farm called Fluge, in Jølster in Sogn og Fjordane County. This is a few hours’ drive north of Bergen. It was usual to say they were from the nearest town, since most people had not heard about the little place they came from.  They emigrated via BErgen.

We found his baptism, and there are a picture enclosed. This is from Jølster parish, klokkerbok A1 (sextons's book).

y and d got this reply

It also included some Census records of his parents
I'm also working on Andreas Danielsen Fluge's line.  My grandfather was Duane A Flug.  I also got on the artkive and found baptismal for his parents, Daniel Olsen and Andrea Johannesdatter.  I'm still collecting info, but a great tip is to do a person search, but only do Fluge and all the Fluge family from that farm or area pop up :-)

I plan to email to get that photo...unless you'd like to share? :-)
