Would this be useful to anyone else

Question

After working on a large number of mostly empty profiles that have been uploaded between 2010 and 2012 I decided that a simple cut and paste form that I could use to just fill in the "blanks" would make my work much easier. At first I tried to copy the data section form the profile at the start but soon discovered that it was still a lot of editing to remove the unneeded information and make the rest actually read right so I thought about trying this way.

Any comments.

That's the basic format I use for all of the profiles I do. It's not pretty but it gets the job done and the point across.

I agree it isn't pretty, but I can see at a glance what information I am missing once I start copy and pasting in what I know.

Yes I think for a lot of 'new' users to the website they would benefit from this - though they would need to be directed to it by 'greeters'.

I keep my scratch pad open and seem to have a rhythm at the moment, though once I finish putting all the names in for the One Name Study - I need to revisit each and every one of the profiles I've created whether they are my family trees or the project.

Hi Dale,  I would strongly advocate that the big C for citation be used to enter the in-line sources for each bit of information.  The advantage is you don't have to worry about formatting or numbering your sources.  They are automatically entered from the bio down to the sources section.

Kitty, I have been doing it that way since way before we even had that big C option. This is more about giving people an outline that can be easily filled in to create a biography and showing how citing sources using the inline <ref></ref> commands work. In my own personal work using that big C, as you call it, is more difficult, FOR ME, than just typing in the commands myself. Once you add a biography and more than 2 or three citations you wind up scrolling back and forth to find the tab you need to click and a lot of the time I tend to bump into a key on my keyboard and thus move my cursor position resulting in a mess that I need to clean up later.
