There were TWO Prudence Choates. Two... One was born in approximately 1720 and was the daughter of Chief Kanatoga and Sugi Wolf Clan. She married Christopher Choate VII.
Her DAUGHTER, Prudence Choate, was born in 1782 and married a man named Dykes. She was the sister of Greenberry Choate, who is my direct ancestor.
Why are you assuming those who have evidence of ancestry to Chiefs Kanatoga and Moytoy are lying and those who say these are lies tell the truth. Where is the proof that these are lies? I am not an expert. I am simply helping my father with a family tree, and we have both had our DNA done, with proof of relationship to the Choate line and Native American lineage.
FWIW, there is a photograph of an elderly Prudence Choate Dykes--the first Prudence's daughter--and she certainly appears Native American. Clearly, that is not proof.
I ask, where is your proof that my family's claim to this lineage is a lie? I did not fabricate it. I gleaned it from extensive research, as did other family members. It was taken from Family Search, Ancestry.com, MyHeritage, Family Archives, and the Eastern Cherokee Nation's records.
Where is your proof that we lie?
And why was I not informed privately that you were calling me a liar in public so I would have the chance to respond? That is the usual protocol, is it not? This it quite unseemly. I am going to remove all of my contributions from WikiTree, including sorting through the fact that there are SEVEN generations of Christopher Choates after some fool tried to merge them into one, even though they were born in different centuries. What a mess that made!
Someone posted that "20th century families tried to prove relationship to Cherokee royalty." How rude! I can assure you my family had no idea we had any Native American ancestry other than a smidgen according to our DNA tests. We certainly weren't trying to prove anything.
This entire line of discussion is very un-WikiTree and unprofessional and downright rude!
Happy hunting.
