Should I wait until my GED is totally processed before adding or editing anything else?

I am dying to play with this Wiki but my GEDCOM hasn't been fully integrated yet.  I am going to guess I need to cool my jets and wait until my ancestors come online, yes?

Hello Alycia,

I agree, wait until the full download has come through as you may be doing twice as much work.

While you are waiting for your gedcom to be added, you might want to look around WikiTree to see the many cool things you can do one you can get into your profiles.  For example,

  • If you have any relatives who served in the military, you may want to add the appropriate military project tag to the profile to honor your veteran.
  • If there is a One-Name Study related to one of your surnames, you may wish to join that project.
  • There are many Categories you can add to your ancestor's pages, such as their profession, religion, and cemetery.
  • You'll want to improve your profiles by adding sources for the information you have.  Consider reviewing the Source Style Guide for tips on how to properly list sources.
  • Check out the Projects page for more ideas.

But don't get overwhelmed with ideas!  Your first focus will be your profiles.  I just wanted to give you inspiration to look around WikiTree - there's so much here that it's easy to miss things that might be of interest.
