Check the 1830 tithe applotment records for Cahera Townland in Kilfergus Civil Parish. There is a John Shanahan listed next to Michael Mangan. Considering that your John Shanahan was married to a Mangan, there may be a connection. This John Shanahan does not appear in later Griffiths Valuation records.
