what to do with this profile

Question

THis is the father of an illegitimate baby. Likely we will never know who he was. I am thinking I should just recycle him as an unknown and reuse the profile?

Dawn, I have to admit that I'd be leaning in that direction too. I'm not a big fan of profiles that are somewhat meaningless. The "father of" or "mother of" profiles that don't contain any sources or otherwise useful data seem to do little more than take up space and serve no purpose.

I'd be sorely tempted that the next profile you need to create you just redo the data and he'll become a useful profile in the tree. I know that's not necessarily the best way to do it ( the change log will forevermore reflect his original data), but the only other way to do it without retaining data (merging him into another profile) would be the only other thing I can think to do with him.

Add a Research Note section and explain what you know....and what sources you have

Maybe add a section of suggested next step

1. Look for candidates and follow the person and see if you get some hints. I have found in estate and inventory information about childrens....
2. See if there is some people now living that can do DNA test and see how they match other people...
