I'm asking and answering my own question here so we have a reference to link to. :-)

A couple terms we throw around sometimes in the community:

  • Newg: New Genealogist

Plural is newgs? newgies? I've been pronouncing it to myself as newgees.

  • Newt: New WikiTreer

A new member, that is.

Cute!  I had not previously heard these terms, Chris.
I'm sorry . I'm country and always thought a newt was a  small lizard like salamander.

When I was in the Army back in the early '70s a newg was, of course, a new guy, meaning someone who had just been transferred to where you were stationed.  I don't know if it had an official spelling, but I always thought of it as nug.  I suppose the concept, at least, would have ancient roots.  But both adaptions to WikiTree seem natural and I'll consider them fixed in stone.
