The category: Canada Genealogy Resources has an Acadian sub-catagory but no French-Canadian (or Quebecois)  group, am I missing something? Why is there no genealogy help with them? Thanks.

Hi James !

You should try Library and Archives Canada; lots of French Canadian resources.
Thank you. I have been doing genealogy for over 40 years and have lots of F-C material.  I was surprised to see the genealogy resources here, but little or nothing about French-Canadian research (or First Nations / Native American) and wondered if I was missing something.
Hi! James:

There is a Quebecois Project in WikiTree. I do not know how elaborate it is ; you may wish to check it out. My wife is French Acadian so I use those resources often.

I have been stuck on one file in her genealogy for years and I wonder if you may have some directional or resource advice. ( Charles William Hattie ) arrived in Canada just prior to 1865. His son's marriage certificate says he was born in France. Hattie does not seem to be a name that comes from France. I have exhausted all sources in my skill set. Any thoughts ?

George

George, I do not have any Acadian ancestry that I know of so am not knowledgeable about researching that area (although I have Nova Scotian ancestry).

I agree, Hattie does not sound French right off hand. But I certainly do not know all French names!

Here are some sources which may be of use:

Some of these sites may be already listed in Cyndi's List.

Sorry I could not be of more help.
BTW I have CHURCHILLs in my line.
Jim.

Thanks for the help on Acadian resources. Charles Hattie actually was born in France probably about 1830 so would not be of any Acadian lineage. My wife's Acadian Line would be Mius/Muise. I specialize in Nova Scotia Churchill research. Do you know the lines of your Churchill connections?

George

Hi James

All projects are run by volunteers, you/me/others.  I have no knowledge whatsoever about Canada.

Not entirely sure what you are looking for here, I do tons of stuff in this area since my origins are here for centuries, Québécois project covers the area, also Chronicles of New France.  As far as resources, if you are talking about valid sources, the 2 best ones are Drouin institute and PRDH (Programme de Recherche en Démographie Historique), but for both you need subscription.
