Hi Robert,

Only the profile manager of that profile can state for certain why they selected that privacy level.  An example might be that even though they have passed away, their profile is directly connected to living profiles such as those of children.  You can click to sent the manager a message and ask if you wish.

This is not an answer, but only a comment.  Over the years, the Social Security Death Index listed social security numbers and when that source was used to confirm a genealogy, the individual uploading the source failed to remove the social security number, thus giving criminals access not only to the social security number, but also the mother's maiden name, etc.

It's always a good idea to remove any data that might allow the criminal element to commit fraud in any way, shape, or form.

Once one removes the sensitive data, the profile can be set to a less protected privacy setting.

The Profile Manager chose to Privacy Protect this person - typically their reasons are their own. While we recommend leaving profiles as open as possible, not all Profile Managers choose this path. If you want to see the contents of this profile, you'll need to send a trusted list request to the Profile Manager and they can determine if they're willing to open it up to you.

Note that I've found that some Profile Managers don't really understand the Privacy settings and may not have intended to lock it up as tightly as they have - so sometimes you can suggest that they reduce the privacy settings to Yellow, where the information can be seen but not edited, and at least it allows you to determine if this is the one you are looking for without having to ask for access first.

Note that the PM hasn't been on since December 2015, so you may not get a response - but it's worth a try. Also, it does appear that the PM has created a mostly private tree, as all their profiles appear to have privacy restrictions on them - so most likely this is intentional.
