This is not an answer, but only a comment. Over the years, the Social Security Death Index listed social security numbers and when that source was used to confirm a genealogy, the individual uploading the source failed to remove the social security number, thus giving criminals access not only to the social security number, but also the mother's maiden name, etc.
It's always a good idea to remove any data that might allow the criminal element to commit fraud in any way, shape, or form.
Once one removes the sensitive data, the profile can be set to a less protected privacy setting.
