I;m looking for Timm Vogt born in  Schleswig Holstein Germany, He married Margaretha Thodt.. I would like to find  Timm and Margaretha parents-all in Germany I think---I can;t find any death notices--I was hopen  I could find something on Timm to lead me to his  parents --but if anyone can help it  it would be great,,Thank You Yvonne Vogt

Thank you so much Frank Gill for the info. I have been off for some time --now I want to get back to work.I will be looking for Margaretha Thodt parents also--she was married to  Timm Vogt...thanks again--If u do come accross anything about Margaretha Thodts parents it would be great---

Dear Frank Gill, thank you for the info. on Timm Vogts Parents..I have tryed to look up Jacob Vogt and Becke Grabau and find nothing.I know Timm Vogt and Margaretha Thodt came to  New York on the Hammonia Sept 16 1856 with 4 children...and they made residence in Davenport Iowa March 3 1858..Could u help me as far as how to find more on both Timm vogt and Margaretha Thodt Vogt..parents.I wanted ti find out if Timm Vogt had brother and sisters--same with Margaretha Thodt Vogt---Im not the best at this but I did get up to Timm Vogt-   My Father       Norman vogt-his father Carl vogt--Julius Vogt---John Christian vogt--last that I have is Timm vogt---thank you Yvonne Vogt

Yvonne, when you add the tag "german_roots" to your question you will probably be answered by members with knowledge of german genealogy.

It's hard without knowing a town, Vogt is a pretty common name in Schleswig-Holstein. You can try this: http://www.rootdigger.de/Emi.htm

Margarethe Thodt Vogt born in Lubeck--or Danemark...born in the 1800-- Passenger List Aug 31 1856.

 I have been trying everything but I;m not as good as alot of you. I was up untill 3.00 A,M,  looking for info as I;m sure many of u have done.So if anyone can help it would be great---thanks to all the ones that have helped and still helping..Yvonne Vogt

Betreut wird das Archiv vom Arbeitskreis Geschichte im Amt Trave-Land,
von Hans Rahlf und Dieter Harfst.
Dieser Arbeitskreis ist nur jeden Mittwoch von 8.30 – 12.00 Uhr im
II. Stock Amt Trave-Land anzutreffen. Da die Arbeit im Archiv
ehrenamtlich ist, ist auch die Recherche im Archiv selbst jeweils nur
Mittwochs von 8.30 – 12.00 Uhr möglich! OHNE Anmeldung für die
Recherche selbst. Man sagt nur im II. Stock der Arbeitsgruppe an, das
man ins Archiv möchte (Keller) und schon kann man selbst die Bücher
einsehen. Auch Kopien erstellt die Arbeitsgruppe derzeit noch
kostenlos. Keine Lesegeräte oder erstellt Register, sondern Recherche
in den Original-Büchern.
Da das Archiv ehrenamtlich geführt wird und ständig erweitert wird,
beantwortet die Arbeitsgruppe keine schriftlich gestellten
Forschungsaufträge, wohl aber Anfragen in welchen genaue
Geburts/Heirats- oder Sterbeangaben angeführt sind.

Essentially, no digitized records, original church books can be researched in person only, once a week, Wednesdays from 8:30 am until noon. No written research requests unless exact birth, wedding or death dates are known.
