Don't be reluctant to ask a question about your family history. Based on your last name, surnamedb.com has this to say about it's origin:

Last name: Leger

This interesting name drives from the Olde German personal name Leodegar composed of the elements "liutr" meaning "people" or "tribe", plus "gari" a spear. Hence, "People-Spear". St. Leger, a 7th Century martyr and bishop of Autun, contributed to the popularity of the name in France. In Germany, the name was connected with a different saint an 8th Century bishop of Munster. The name was introduced into England by the Normans and is first recorded (without surname) in the 1192 "Pipe Rolls of Hampshire". The surname appears in the latter half of the 13th Century, (see below). In the modern idiom, the name has two spelling variations, Leger and Ledger. On April 25th, 1585, William Ledger and Elizabeth May were married at St. Margarets, Westminster, London. The first recorded spelling of the family name is shown to be that of Adam Leger. which was dated 1279, in the "Hundred Rolls of Cambridgeshire". during the reign of King Edward 1, known as "The Hammer of the Scots", 1272 - 1307. Surnames became necessary when governments introduced personal taxation. In England this was known as Poll Tax. Throughout the centuries, surnames in every country have continued to "develop" often leading to astonishing variants of the original spelling.

Don't be too concerned about making mistakes, because everybody makes them. Like with anything else, there is a learning curve. Please feel free to make comments if you want to and ask whatever questions that are on your mind.

There seem to be a lot of people with the Leger surname in Louisiana and Massachusetts. There are a fair number in Kentucky, Pennsylvania and New York states. Most states have people with the Leger surname.

If you look at England and Wales, there is a strong concentration in London, Yorkshire and Lancashire. They are in Glamorgan, Wales and Essex, England.

My Williams ancestors are from Glamorgan, Wales.

Hope you enjoy the experience of exploring WikiTree. There are a lot of folks who have a strong interest in many aspects of genealogy as well as in answering questions.
thanks Frank, I get so confused in what I am trying to do. & not sure what is the correct way to go about it. thanks for explaining some of this to me.

I started a new project  last week  : Beaugh Interest Project but so far I have not gotten any response  & it is still showing up that no one has yet started a project on Beaugh Family . I don`t know if I will earn a badge for this or not. . I got one answer to join the one name study to help me & so I did but need more  answers from leader. I sent her an e-mail but I think she is out of state. . so will just wait & see if she can get back to me.
