Is there a good reason for pre-1700 profile to be PRIVATE?

An email address is on the wikitree.com profile for Elizabeth Bateman Lyon.  I suspect that the email address has turned her profile into a private profile that can't be seen by many of her descendants.  I don't think that this is a good thing.  Since Elizabeth died over a hundred years ago, I don't think that she will be answering her email.

I think that If someone is trying to show a living person that this profile exists, it would be more appropriate to send an email to the email address containing a link to the profile.

I wonder whether this posting of an email address is why I have seen other profiles for long-dead persons with private security settings.  I can't think of a valid reason to set to PRIVATE the profile for a long-dead person.  Am I missing some good reasons?

Do you have the Wikitree ID for that profile?

Looks like a Project:Database_Errors error to check if email is set on old profiles....

It appears to be this profile, born 1630s died 1700s.

Elizabeth (Bateman) Lyon

Certainly needs to be corrected.

Thanks for figuring that out, Shirley. I added a message to the profile about the need to remove whatever is in the email address field (which is what caused her to become a WikiTree "Family Member"). The four profile managers should get an email messages, and hopefully one of them will stop by here soon to fix it.

The short answer is it should be Open. WikiTree does not have automatic privacy level changes and it is up to the profile manager to do this. Sometimes the managers get busy with other things and just forget to check the privacy levels, I try and remember to check in January, and some profiles that should be changed just fall thru the cracks. At least one of the managers is active and will probably fix this one soon.

How can I check for fb errors In my own watch list. I read all the project info. I don't want to join another project. I just want a list of my profiles.
