What happened to Chester Humphrey PRICE after 1920?

Chester Humphrey Price was born Sep 1896 Illinois to Humphrey H. Price and Rosa I. Cessna.  He married about 1916 Gladys G. Winters and sired Gilbert Acton Price in 1917 (Cook Co IL).  The three are together in Cook Co IL in the 1920 census.  In 1930 Gladys and Gilbert are enumerated in Gladys' father's HH; no Chester, but she is enumerated as "married".  In 1940, she is enumerated as "widow".  No Illinois death certificate for Chester; no Find-a-Grave record for him.  Census searches are not conclusive.  No RootsWeb record.
