Would it not be Royal shield?

Royal arms to me would include his crest
You are 100% correct. Acording to Wikipedia,The Royal coat of arms of the United Kingdom, or Royal Arms for short, is the official coat of arms of the British monarch, currently Queen Elizabeth II. These arms are used by the Queen in her official capacity as monarch of the United Kingdom. Variants of the Royal Arms are used by other members of the Royal Family; and by the British government in connection with the administration of the country. In Scotland, the Queen has a separet version of the Royal Arms, a variant of which is used by the Scltland Office.

In the standard variant used outside of Scotland, the shield is quartered, depicting in the first and fourth quarters the passant guardant lions of England; in the second, the rampant lion and double tressure flory-counterflory of Scotland; and in the third, a harp for Ireland. The crest is a statant guardant lion wearing the St. Edward's Crown, himself on another representation of that crown. The dexter supporter is a likewise crowned English lion; the sinister, a Scottish unicorn. According to legend, a free unicorn was considered a very dangerous beast; therefore the heraldic unicorn is chained, as were both supporting unicorns in the Royal coat of arms of Scotland. In the greenery below, a thistle, Tudor Rose and shamrock are present, representing Scotland, England and Ireland respectively. The coat features both the motto of English monarchs, Dieu et mon droit (God and my right), and the motto of the Order of Garter, Honi soit qui mal y pense (shame upon him  who thinks evil of it) on a representation of the Garter behind the shield.

Hope this is helpful. You are from the Beaufort side, and I,as well.

Lady Joan Beaufort was married to Ralph Neville, 1st Earl of Westmorland. One of her many children was Richard Neville, 5th Earl of Salisbury.

Cescily Neville ( Richard's sister, was married to Richard Plantagenet, 3rd Duke of York..Two of Cescily's sons were King Edward IV, and Richard III..the last of the Plantagent Kings of England)

Richard Neville (my 16th Great Grandfather, and son of Joan Beaufort)

Lady Alice Neville/FitzHugh: my 15th Great Grandmother

Elizabeth FitzHugh (my 14th Great Grandmother), was also married to Sir William Parr (through William Parr, one of Elizabeth's sons was Sir Thomas Parr, Catherine Parr...6th wife of Henry VIII)

Are you living in the UK? I am living in Honolulu, Hawaii. I am planning a trip to England in August or September, to gather more in depth information on my Ancestors from The House of Neville, House York, Lancaster, and Plantaganet..If you are in England, I would love to meet you..Sorry this REPLY turned out to be so long..I would love to hear about your Ancestors and what you have discovered..Thanks for the reply on the Royal Arms..Judy Anstess

Thank you for this. I am descended from him on a number of lines, mostly through the Beauforts, the children of his son, John of Gaunt's third wife, Katherine Swynford. They were barred from sucession, as they were born when Katherine was his mistress though they were legitimised when the two eventually married. Here is one of my descents:
