Anyone have a way to merge in wikitree ids into main gedcom tree

So i have my main Gedcom tree (Tree1)exported from Ancestry, and some of these people have already been added to wikitree.

I have exported my wikitree as a gedcom (Tree2), and this contains the wikitree ids.

What I would like to do is match each wikitree person in Tree2 to the person in Tree1, and then add the wikitree id to the correct place in Tree 1.

Does anybody have a way of doing this ?

Cool my dream is that we can have distribute Family trees ==> saying that Tree 1 person A is the same as identifier http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Taylor-30434

Maybe start checking Cindy' List for Gedcom tools

Assuming I understand you correctly:

Backup Tree1!!!

Open Tree2 in Notepad or similar. See how the id is listed within one record.

Open Tree1, use 'find' to get to the same record and copy the id in the format from Tree2.

Thanks but I was looking for an automated method.
I doubt you'll find one. Good luck.
sounds like an interesting coding project to write... wish I had the time :(
Yep, I sometimes wonder if there are an crowdfunding sites that will crowdfund this kind of project because I could take time out to do it just paid me a salary for the time it took but I cant justify the time for no income at all.
