I merged records with someone else and now have son showing as brother

I merged my Norris-4130 with a Norris-2605.  Everything matched up, except I didn't notice that she had his son listed as his brother.  Now I want to delete his brother.  How do I do that?

They aren't the same.  In fact there are two profiles for the son and two for the brother.
Hello Bonnie

You can't delete profiles, you can remove a member from a family tree.
This is what I'm seeing:

Profile 4130 for Richard Norris.   Wife Catherine Throckmorton

Brother:  Richard Norris Sr..    Wife:  Catherine Throckmorton

Son:  Richard Norris Jr.           Wife:  Althea Hendrickson

WHY is it showing brothers as the same person?
Profile 4130:    How do I remove the "Brother" in this profile?
Go to the father - even if they are linked:

Click into the profile - edit.

Scroll down - add/edit father

This brings you to a new page - towards the top it will have add or 'remove' when you click on remove - it will take you to the bottom of the page giving you the option - remove and save.
If duplicates are showing as brothers, don't disconnect, merge.

Disconnecting just leaves one "brother" without his correct parents and breaks somebody's line.
I didn't read as being a duplicate, read it as profile was listed as both.  In the past I've accidentally done this - so it was purely one profile.
Yes that often happens.  But I figure there isn't any way a profile can be shown as its own sibling.

Hi Bonnie - Welcome to WikiTree.  A couple of suggestions to help you fix this.  Objective is 1 profile per person.

1.  Go to William (the father) http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Norris-2608 -- you will see there are 2 mothers (same name) (looks like several down the line are duplicates).

2.  Initiate merge for two wives (Burrows-1445 into Burrows-950)  This will give you 1 set of parents.

3. Initiate merge for son Richard m. Catherine Fisher (Throckmorton) Norris-2605 into Norris-4130 and (same for Catherine -- Throckmorton-742 into Throckmorton-442)

4. Lastly same for Richard Jr. m. Althea -- Norris-2604  to Norris-4129

Looks like Althea and son George will be Ok.from there down.

Take the process 1 step at a time, be sure to compare the profiles to be sure they are in fact the same person, then initiate merge.  After the merge is completed, do a profile clean up to delete duplicate information and profile posts

It would be a good idea to also search for any other duplicates for this family and if any found, initiate merges to the lowest ID.

If you need some one-on-one help let me know.  Happy to help out, just send me a private message.

Regards, Sandy
