I need to find the parents of Eleanor (Robinson) Crumpton born 1812, New South Wales, Australia [closed]

Question

I am looking for any information on the parents of Eleanor Robinson, born August 18, 1812 in Australia. She married Thomas Crumpton Jr, elder son of Convicts Thomas Crump & Mary (Harrison) Crump (Aka Crumpton), in 1827 in Sackville Reach, New South Wales, Australia. All I have found on a 1828 Census Doc is that she was 'born in the colony' so wasn't a convict, and listed as Eleanor Crumpton, 18, residing with Thomas Crumpton, 31. This doesn't mean she wasn't the daughter of one. I would appreciate any tips. She may have changed her name. I have tried different Alias's but with no results. I know she existed as she was my Great Great Grandmother. Thanks for any advice. Eileen

These may be red herrings...

There are two Eleanor's on the Cornwallis which could perhaps be the same person. But in 1806 Eleanor Mcintyre  is recorded as living with a soldier  William Hamilton and in 1825 she is recorded as married to him. So most likely not your Eleanor. I haven't found a marriage to a John Robinson

Thankyou Dee for your help, I had most of that but not a source for Eleanor's brother. Thanks for that. It would appear he died in 1813 and another brother John Emanuel was born 1813/14. Until I find a Source I tend not to add someone to a profile. I have found so much mis-information and 'guessing' or assumptions on some sites that I am wary of making a definite entry until I have a good source. I still need to research the possibility of the John2 but will keep looking as I have time. I appreciate your assistance in this. Eileen

The death index of Eleanor Crumpton in 1890 states that her father's given name was John, and her mother's given name was Unknown.

The details were probably provided by whoever registered her death, and may not be correct.

In the birth index there is a Eleanor Robinson, whose birth was registered in 1813 whose parents are given as John and Eleanor.

Two ancestry trees give the wife of John Robinson as McIntyre ot McGowan without source.

I can't find a marriage of John Robinson and Eleanor under either.

It didn't matter how much information put in, I wasn't able to find anything on the bdm nsw site until I went into the http://australianroyalty.net.au and found a Registration No. for the record of Eleanor's Death. That also included her Father's name as John. Don't know how I missed it as I have used that site often to research my illustrious and courageous ancestors. Thanks again. Eileen

PS: The Mother turned out to be Eleanor McIntire. By the way, they did marry in 1811. Found a record of marriage. The McGowan was way off. None of her Profile fitted except the Christian name. Thanks for the heads up. A great help. Eileen

Hi Tess. Yes, there are so many in the UK Records but there is only one John Robinson who married an Eleanor McIntire) in Australia in 1811 (both Convicts) with a daughter Eleanor born and Christened in Australia 1813 and who's daughter married  Thomas Crump Jr and became my 3rd Grand Grandma so I'm fairly sure I have the correct one. I am still trying to find a legitimate source that proves John and Eleanor had other children. John born 1811 died 1813 and a son John Emanuel born c1813/14. Mine is proving to be a colourful Ancestry. Thanks. Eileen
