Machler, not Macheler

I've come to believe that my g-grandmother LNAB was "Machler", not "Macheler".

Currently she is Macheler-1.  I'd like to change her LNAB to Machler (she will become Machler-8 or so).

Would you kindly explain the ramifications of doing this?

I'm particularly interested in ramifications to the contribution-points I've accrued.  Please address that issue.

Also, would a change to her LNAB affect the linkages to her family?  Meaning, will they become disconnected from her?

Juli, do you have any documentation to support the spelling of her last name at birth? Especially when it comes to changing LNAB, this is really important.
In a roundabout way, yes.

"Machler" is the way it was spelled in Germany in the region where she's from.  There are simply no "Macheler" names found there.

Aside from one record, her name was always spelled "Machler".  (Unfortunately, that one record was the source I used when creating her profile.)

By the time I created profiles for others in the Machler family, I had already surmised that "Macheler" was a typo in the record or the transcription, so I created them as Machler (as per the name in records).
wrong spot, pls rmv.

If you still wish to go ahead you will need to go to the profile - click on edit.  Within edit mode scroll down to where it says surname - there is a small green section 'edit'.

The ramifications are - her offspring will need to be edited - e.g. the son/daughter of of [[Macheler-1|Henrietta Macheler]] . - will all need to be changed.  This will not affect her siblings or parents profiles - they too would need to be changed.

Not necessarily. The spelling of surnames sometimes changed between generations or even during a person's lifetime. In my own family, I have people born as Betz and died as Betts. My grandfather was Schmidt on his birth record but Smith on his marriage record.  Any changes to LNAB should be based on sources contemporary to the time of the birth.
