Pending merges seem to be getting out of hand

I would like to propose that everyone take a look at their own pending merges and let's try to prune this list down to a manageable number.

Thank you!

Thanks for the reminder, Loretta. On it... DONE (my watchlist anyway)
And got through one page of "general" pending merges... but got to go to work now.
Regularly look at mine, and any that get default approval get completed as appropriate.  Seen one MatchBot proposal so far.
My list is empty. Yay!
Good for you Ros Haywood!  Cheers to everyone who list is clear!!!

I mostly have unusual surnames but I'll give it a swing. I sometimes feel like the Maytag (high quality appliance) repairman with nothing to do, round here.

No - do NOT tell me to go look at my error report...DO NOT...

Mags

Hi Mags,

I have a love hate relationship with my error report; although, I did try to work through it, some of it I could fix and some of it, I don't even know where it came from  :)  So, I decided to look only at pending merges.

I bet your list is non-existent because you do such a great job to start with.

Cheers,

Loretta
Aw shucks!
I've spent all week clearing out the pending merges that involve private profiles. Started in 2013. Almost up to 2015. Woo.
Way to go Eowyn Langholf! Wished everyone was as dedicated as you!!!

Cheers,

Loretta
You'll see several of my proposals when you get in to late 2015, Eowyn. Thanks for taking care of those.
Yeh, Eowyn!!!!

Thank You Lorretta.   I was just wondering last night if people were just letting their merges go to default approval.  I also noticed many merges that could be matches were private and orphaned. And managers long gone. These were merges I proposed and not managed by me . I'm going to try to source them and get them done.  I just looked up one guy and he has one , just one source.  Not a good one. So I'm off to track him down.

I also think that the new database errors project has allowed us to identify a lot more duplicates in a shorter period of time.   Only a couple of weeks ago we were almost caught up with the default approved merges.   This is good news!

Robin, Don't forger that Match Bot is running and car make up to 100 proposals per day.
You are soooo right, Dale, I forgot about those, too.
Dale, what is a match bot and why do we have one??? Can it be tweaked to tighter standards?

Hi Loretta! See WikiTree-4 for more about MatchBot (especially the linked G2G discussions). The recent change on searching for name variants caused an explosion in MatchBot-proposed merges that involved two different surnames. As a result, we now have the MatchBot Monitors Project to help review the proposals - see the project page for more info.

Cheers, Liz

Oh good!  There are enough names variants that are real without getting into might-have-beens too.

Thank you for the reminder!

Of the 12 pending merges I have, there were 5 I needed to attend to. The other 7? Well awaiting the other party's approval

for anyone who doesn't know where to look (it took me a long time to find it), here's a link:

There's an easier way to find it. Just go to the Find tab at the top of the page and from the dropdown menu, click on Pending Merges. Once there you can click on "Pending Merges initiated by me." You can also click on "Pending Merges waiting for action by me." I check every day to make sure I'm not forgetting something.
Ah, the Find menu. Totally missed that. Thank you.
