Would love to help, but, because of his common name, I need a little more data, if you have it.

Did he live in New Jersey during his entire lifetime, or where did he live?

Did he have siblings, what were their names?

Did he and Edna have children, what were their names?

Thank you for your reply and interest and sorry for the delay, I am still learning to navigate Wiki Tree.

According to the 1850 Federal census in Delaware had James living in New Castle County with his wife Edna and a Hanna Lee that is the age that could be his mother. Both James and Hannah are born in NJ.

I do not know James' siblings.

The children of James and Edna (Harper) are Hannah (1846), John (1847), Benjamin (1849), Rebecca (1853), Edna (1853), James (1858), Andrew (1860 and my 2x great grandfather), William (1863).
Heidi, Andrew Lee is also the 2x great grandfather of my son Nicholas Lee. His 1x great grandfather was Herbert Charles. I am also doing this research. Have you gotten any further back than Hannah? Ever find a James' father's name?
Darcy, sorry to say but I am still stuck at James Lee born in 1822 in NJ. Family lore has that he was involved with the Methodist Church so I am trying to reasearch via that route. James is buried at the Salem United Methodist Church in Newark DE so I want to contact the church to see if they have any old records available.
I was afraid of that. I wrote to them yesterday as well. I misspoke, James is my son's 3x great grandfather. FYI also buried at SUMC is his mother Hannah and his children Hannah E., Rebecca, and Benjamin (his wife Mary and son Joseph).
Darcy,

I am following up to see if you found any information on James Lee. I am still stuck. I am thinking of making a trip to the New Jersey Archives to look.
Heidi, I took a break from Hannah and James. But thought about it today. Have you had any further luck? Wish we knew for sure what county in NJ so we could look for his birth certificate (should ID his father). Salem County is the closest. Look forward to hearing back from you.
Thank you for reaching out Darcy. I still have not found James Andrew Lee's father or verified Hannah is his mother. It is my most frustrating brick wall.

I still want to go to Trenton NJ Archives to see if I can find information that I cannot find online.

To be honest though, I have not had the time to put to much research in over the past couple years.

His death record indicates he was buried in the cemetery at Salem Church. Possibly this is in Salem, NJ. If so, that is probably where he was born.

Can you direct me to the profile you added?
Doug, I reviewed the information you added for James Lee - 16258. His wife's, Edna (1821-1891), maiden name is Harper and according to her Delaware death certificate, her mother was Diana Newlin. Not sure how to get the reference to you.
