How should I properly add a middle name containing ‘de’, ‘du’, ‘von’, ‘van’ etc?

I noticed that if I add my middle name, "de Lima", the public view will show "Franklin D. Marquezino" instead of "Franklin de L. Marquezino" or "Franklin L. Marquezino". It looks like I did something wrong here. (At least, I would say it is not the usual abbreviation in Brazil.) How should I add this information? Is it better to leave this "middle name" field blank?

Unfortunately, this seems to be an inherent limitation in the software, at least at this time.

I would put Franklin de Lima in the Proper First Name field, leave the Middle Name blank and put Franklin in the Preferred Name field. Depending on the view it will give you Franklin de Lima Marquezino, Franklin de Lima (Franklin) Marquezino, or Franklin Marquezino (I possibly overlooked other variations). At least it will get rid of the wrong abbreviation.
