Walter John Lake

I am trying to locate what happened to my Great-Grandfather Walter John Lake.  He was born in Jersey, Channel Islands around 1877 and married Aimee Queripel in Guernsey Channel Islands and had four children.  He went to Canada in 1914 and volunteered with the Canadian Forces, being discharged on medical reasons, returning to Guernsey, but by 1918 there is no trace of him in the Channel Islands.  We know that there was land bought in Alberta at the time he was in Canada, but the trail has grown cold.  Any help greatly appreciated.  I have contacted many of my family dispersed around the globe through genealogy sites.

This is  not relevant, but curiously coincidental.  I have a Grt-grt-uncle named John Walter Lake b.1863 in Iowa, married Jennie Sunderland in 1890 and moved to Holden, Alberta in time for the 1911 Canadian census.  As far as I know he did not serve in the military.  He and Jennie had two daughters.  I was able to find their burials in Holden and have since inherited a few photos of his family.  File this under "not a match" and we may be able to compare notes of our respective further discoveries in the future.  Happy hunting.

army. The family member told me his name was actually John Walter

Lake ,but went by Walter. His Canadian Attestation papers, date birth Aug 20 1877.He was a Stone Mason,He was previously in the Yorkshire Light

Infantry, and served in South Africa. There is a "Tree on Ancestry.com that

Hi Lynda

I do have a Wilfred Christopher Lake 1889-1979 who married Mary Frances Phillips 1890-1967. He was the son of David Arthur Lake who was Walter John Lake's brother. I don't have the full family history of Wilfred apart from him having 13 children. If you could help fill in the gaps I would be most grateful.

Alison
