How about "My twig on the WikiTree"?

Hello WikiTreers!  I was going to say, "how's your summer going?" but I guess it isn't summer everywhere, is it?  Oh well.

I would like to encourage everyone that refers to a few profiles on the WikiTree, to call it a twig.  So often people refer to "my tree" or "your tree" when in fact, there is only one worldwide WikiTree.  With nearly 12 million profiles on the WikiTree, no one has more than a twig-full of profiles.  I think if we refer to "my twig" instead of "my tree", it will emphasize that my twig is just one small part of the whole big WikiTree.

I have been saying "my twig on the WikiTree" for some time now, so it is pretty automatic.  I gave a talk about WikiTree recently and the audience giggled at the term, but it also brought home the point that once there is a profile on the WikiTree, it is no longer on "my tree", but it is a gift to the worldwide WikiTree for the entire WikiTree community to share.

Nice. Now if we can only get the FamilySearch people to think the same way.

I'll have to start using this.
Beautiful way to put it, Kitty ! So branches are .......?
Branches are DNA confirmed lines with documentation!  ;-)

I don't think anyone who refers to my tree or your tree is claiming they own that bit or someone else does ~ we all know the aim is a one world tree, an awesome concept, and we all know our wee bit of it, our contribution to it, is but a twig. However, I'm quite happy with the way I say things, and can't see it changing :)

Great, Kitty!
Unfortunately, I've met people who do think that it is their tree and only theirs, particularly on FamilySearch.

So, twig it is.
Ditto Rosemary - TWIG IT IS :)
