Johann Friedrich Karl Klar (1817 - 1865), brother of my great, great, great grand father Emanuel Klar, who immigrated to Australia in 1841.

Would like help in translation, as I do not know which side Friedrich Karl Klar was on as he participated in the  1848 German revolution. And did he get a pension from the Government?

Müllermeister auf der Schneidemühle zu Prittage Nr 71; beteiligte sich als Demokrat mit der Waffe an der Revolution des Jahres 1848, die sich in Prittage gegen den die Stein'schen Reformen mißachtenden Gutsherrn Kraker von Schwarzenfeld richtete, woraus eine für seinen Betrieb untragbare Grundrentenfestsetzung, mit jährlich 73 Thalern und 8 Silbergroschen die höchste im Dorf, folgte, die durch Landtagsbeschluß 50 Jahre lang an die Preußische Rentenbank zu zahlen war;

Master miller at the cutting mill in Prittage Nr. 71; participated as democrat bearing arms in the revolution of 1848, which in Prittage was directed against the laird Kraker von Schwarzenfeld who had disregarded the reforms of Stein resulting in a setting of the basic rent for his business of annually 73 Taler and 8 silver groschen, the highest in the village and unsustainable for the business, which had to be paid for 50 years to the Prussian Rentenbank per decision of the state parliament.

Your ancestor was on the Democratic side. The local lord of the manor/laird Kraker von Schwarzenfeld ignored the reforms that supposed to give the ordinary farmer more freedom of servitude and taxation from their overlords and cut into the rights (and monetary income) of the nobility. For that reason Friedrich (bearing arms) and others rebelled against K. v. S. The revolution was suppressed. As restitution Friedrich, who was miller of a saw mill, had to pay 73 taler and 8 silver Groschen base rent for his land every year for the next 50 years to the Prussian Rentenbank per edict from parliament. This amount was the highest in the village and due to the huge amount it was impossible to sustain his business.

Thank you for taking the trouble to translate for me.  I have taken the answer from Helmut Jungschaffer as correct.  I got a similar translation from german to english as yourself.  Refer to Johann Friedrich Karl Klar for links to the history of the 1848 German revolution.

I wonder if you know where I can find a birth certificate for Henrich Pingel  as he was born February 4, 1842 in Denmark.  He jumped ship in South Australia in 1862.
