I was given a formula to put on people from Texas and it doesn't work. [closed]

This formula was given to me to indicate which of my ancestors were born, lived, or died in Texas {{US History|sub-project=Texas}}. I was to put it on their pages and then the Texas flag would appear on the left and the US flag on the right just above the biography.

What appeared instead was the above formula in red (Template:US History|sub-project=Texas) and when I click on it I'm taken to a page that says

The action you have requested is limited to users in the group Supervisors.

Return to Main Page.

Can anyone tell me what I did wrong? It was the project manager who gave me the formula to use.

I think you've got an I or an l instead of the pipe symbol
