They were married. However, she found out that he had made a woman pregnant, so she divorced him. Subsequently he had a son born in July 1918, my father b Sept 1918. She and my father went back to TX where her family lived. JLJ also had a dau in the 40's who I just became aware of recently

Am interested in knowing extended family.

I am a descendant of WC from the "other woman" .I am the son of her/ their 4th son . I first learned of this from a snapshot i found of Joe ,as an adult,in a box of  WC's pictures I received after WC's death in  1980.

.I asked my father about this in the 80's,  and he said WC told his sons this 'secret"  of Joes existence back in 1950-52 approx. They made contact with his residence, but never received a response so they reluctantly stopped with the contacts .

Now moving fwd to today and the internet:

I clarified Joe's relationship,& I think it was by a submitting "the question" here for the wikitree researches  in 2013. It wasnt until dec 2016 that I found the query on this site by Joes daughter ,Nicci Johnston. I contacted her and we are now in the stage of learning more about this..

Why so long to learn this one might ask?

Lack of progress and discouragement,so I quit doing much family searches before 2005. Todays find was simply a yearly random geneology check.  Lucky it was at the top of the pile in wikitree for me to discover Nicci Johnston's post  in less than15 minutes

this was my original post mar 19 2013
