How can Mary born Shook, that married John Haynes in 1814 be the mother of Rebecca Shook. Rebecca was not born til 1824, so she is not an illegitimate child. She is the child of Joseph Shook born abt 1792 and died before 1840 and Mary Baker. The current mother is wrong.

If you look at the 1840 census image it shows some names you will recognize and Mary is head of household.

If you look at the 1850 census image even though transcribed as born New York, the image clearly shows NC not NY. Mary has a son Joseph age 13, so thats one of Rebecca's sibblings. You will also see Hoopers and on the next page you will see another son of Joseph and Mary "Daniel" age 23

The child Joseph mentioned above is Joseph Lawrence Shook born 1837. Find a Grave lists his father as Joseph, but Mary E as mother, not Mary A.

Notice his first wifes mother is a "Gunter". The Daniel also Mentioned above married Sarah Gunter. Daniel Sarah Gunter

Joseph Lawrence is on WikiTree but unfortunately made private but listed with the wrong second wife. Joseph first married Matilda Clementine Parris and 2nd to Lettie Mason

Daniel shook with same manager as Joseph

Ok so Joseph Shook b. 1792 d. bef.1840 N.C married Mary Baker b. 1794 d. Aft. 1880 N.C I got this as parents of my Rebecca Shook 1824-1910 that married Alfred Wilson 1812 1889,  do you know anything about Joseph Shook parents or anything about Mary Baker is she possible related to the man that had the Baker Row. I took That Mary Anne Shook off as the mother of my Rebecca Shook 1824-1910 Thank's for the help.

No worries Donnie. I have done Daniel Shook the brother of Joseph Lawrence Shook brothers of Rebecca (Shook) Wilson unfortunatley the manager of both Daniel and Joseph Lawrence has closed of parts of the line. They are not connected but she has both profiles so she will know they are brothers.

Joseph the father appears not to have left a will but as Joseph Lawrence Shook was what they would at the time term an orphan (even though his mothers alive) i may get something from the orphan bonds of Haywood or Jackson County NC

Why will they not merge are they still active Joseph Lawrence Shook I guess I can just add him right,  Thank's for helping me I don't know how I didn't catch this part of our conversation,  Well talk later Thanks
