I have tried to enter my result here (http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Special:DNATests) but nothing happened.  I'm stuck.  How do I enter the fact that I have taken an AncestryDNA test?  I can't even figure out how to download the badge.

Please make it simple.  I'm feeling pretty stupid.  :P

Thank you so much.

Hi Helen, You've gone to the correct page. In the area where it says 'Add a new test', use the drop-down list from 'Select DNA test' and choose 'Ancestry DNA'. You will then be given the opportunity to enter your Ancestry.com user name and your GEDMatch.ID. (Skip the GEDMatch if you haven't done that yet, but you should eventually go to GEDMatch.com and upload your Ancestry DNA for further matching options.) After you've made these entries you need to click on one more button: 'Add test for Helen Mikkelsen.'. (My guess is that you previously missed that last button.) Once you've done these steps you will automatically be given the DNA tested badge. You'll also find lots more good information about DNA and WikiTree here: http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/DNA_FAQ

Thank you, Kay.  You have been very helpful. I'm headed right over to do that now. With any luck, something will tell me I was successful.   --Helen
So, Kay, in order to get it to accept my information I had to write my name as Helen_Mikkelsen (with an underscore) which is NOT the way it is on Ancestry.com.  Will this mess up the connection?  Thank you for your help.

I don't use Ancestry, so I can't be sure, but it seems like someone looking at your profile should be able to figure out how to find you on Ancestry. There isn't any kind of automatic 'connection'. The information you enter will automatically display (within 24 hours) on all profiles related to you within the range where you might have matches. Someone looking at those profiles can then decide to see if they have auDNA segments matching yours. Have you uploaded your DNA to GEDMatch.com yet? That will allow you to compare to people who have tested at FTDNA and 23 and Me as well. It will also allow you to do triangulation, if necessary for relationships further back than third cousin. Once you have it, be sure to enter your GEDMatch ID on your DNA test page as well.
