In the past, many if not most names were in the Bible.  Sometimes it's disguised by coming from a non-English language, but such names only help if they become typical of a family line and thus an indicator.  Now if this were a name I found in my genealogy I'd think of my ggaunt who married a Long and lived in central, Ohio where a town in Morrow County is Mt. Gilead.  The family would then have moved to Indiana.  But I'm just making that up.  But that sort of possible connection sometimes works.  However, a nwme being found in the Bible doesn't usually help, per se.

Ok Thank's I have been reading the Bible and I keep seeing that name Gilead and I remember it being my 5th Great grandfather's name Peter Gilead Long Sr 1760 1850 WikiTree-10033 and seen one time before on something I read about the family it said that  it was a middle name for other's in the family, I'm always looking for a closer connection to anyone in the Bible. Thanks
In this you sent me Elizabeth Long married Andrew Dillard Hooper had Michael Hooper this is my line Michael's son David " Webb " Hooper is my Great grandfather,  the Long family is connected to me twice but the connection to the Gilead name is very interesting to me, being a name out of the Bible,  Thanks for this if you know anything else Please send it.
