Hi,

I am trying to find the baptism of James Waite.

I have found 2 which could be him but how can I confirm which it is? He is also pre 1700 so I can't edit him.

Baptised 1698

Difficult !    I would try to trace the original old parish record on

http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/

You might be lucky and glean more information about the family but church records in this period vary a great deal.   It may also be the same family with a child dying in infancy.   Frequently a second baby was named after the first one - especially if it carried the name of one of the parents.   Both father's in this case are James.

Thanks,

I will have a look on that website.
