Hello,

My name is Judith (Weeks) Ancell.  A good share of my ancestry is through the early Dutch and French Huguenot settlers.  My line goes back through the Abram/Abraham Schuyler who was the interpreter and silver smith.  The Huguenot lineage is through Louis duBois and Catherine Blanchan.  Hopefully I am able to contribute some of my research to this project.

I would love to be a part of the New Netherlands Project.  I have been researching my ancestry for over 40 years and love the fact that we have so many more tools to use today.

Sadly I have lost the ability to create a GedCom through the failure of t he FTW program.  I am now using Roots Magic and slowly rebuilding my database entering my data by hand.  I feel it is time to share the work that I have done and pass it on to the next generation of genealogists.  

Although I have not had a DNA test my nephew who carries the Weeks name has the 111 marker and is generous in sharing it.

I have Louis du Bois and Catharine Blanchan in my tree. I also have Schuyler's but no Abram (yet). I have a huge tree on ancestry.com that is public and named, Rivenbark, McLendon, Bridges, Major Family Tree. I haven't compared all of it to WikiTree. You are welcome to look at it. Perhaps, as you add to your tree you will find a connection to the Roosevelts, as I did.

My brother's Y-DNA test on FTDNA has a match to a Weeks.

Terhune 304 here, I am looking to join. We came from France to Netherlands to New York in 1600's. I have just joined Wikitree and am in process of merging the info from my line with ancestors further down. I would be interested in joining the New Netherland Settlers Project.I  work with New Netherland Settlers and their Descendants in the 1600 and 1700's.

I'm relatively new to the New Netherlands research. I found an ancestor (Maria Schuyler) was from Albany - and found many of her ancestors using the Dutch Reformed Church's documents. I'm still looking for exact documentation of her husband's (Benjamin Davenport) family and lineage, but I'm having fun with the Dutch Line and learning more about the Dutch colonial experience (and the Scottish branch too!)

Hello, New Netherland Group!

I was surprised to discover my Dutch ancestry recently, and to be perfectly honest, the names themselves are what drew me to volunteer for this group. I still have to finish moving my Ancestry.com tree to Wikitree, but some of my direct ancestors include [[Knickerbocker-150]], [[Bogaert-92]], and [[Volckertszen-7]]. It seems that the Dutch manner of naming differs from what I'm used to (especially in regards to passing down surnames), but I'll do my best to acquaint myself with the system. I hope I can be of help in the project!

I am interested in joing the New Netherland Settlers Project, and would appreciate guidance as I am likely to soon be adding Hendrick Wiertse Banta, son of Wiert Epkes (Epkens on WikiTree? [[Epkens-1 | Wiert Epkens]]).  This will connect one of my Banta lines on to the rest of the WikiTree, as I descend from Hendrick's son Jan.

Welcome, Brian! You should be fine. The only thing that might be unusual due to the naming conventions that the project uses is that Hendrick would have a "LNAB" of Wiertse, the patronymic that appears in his marriage record, because he was born before the family used a surname.

I am Sheran Cooper McCants and I am a seventh great granddaughter of Claes Claesen Sluyter-17. The various spellings of this family in Dutch and English records make documenting this family challenging. I have a copy of a gedcom with the notes from Charles A Slater used in his book on the first six generations of Claes Sluiter (which I'm willing to share).

My great-great grandmother  (and brick wall) was Susan Sisco-44, from Ivy Mills Tennessee. Her daughter, my great grandmother, Phebe Turner-7212, b. 1834, was a ward of her Aunt Phoebe Ann Turner-7231 and John (Francisco) Sisco-38 in November 1845. This is the Southern branch of the Sisco-Francisco family which migrated to the Carolinas.

My interest in NA began while i was researching my Hagewout ancestors (early/mid 1600s), i have yet to find a link between my Hagewout family and the Hagewout/Lefferts family of Flatbush (although both came from the same part of NL and same time frame).

Things really kicked off when i read Russell Shorto's "Amsterdam", this was the first time I heard of Joris Rapalje and Cat Trico.

Since then i've spent hundreds of enjoyable hours (and a couple of hundred frustrating ones) sifting thru the DRC records of the colony, reading Zabinski and Bergen and Google, google, googling,

I am related only by marriage by find the family line very intriguing. I have done extensive research on this family and I manage a large number of profiles here. Greetings!  I am interested in joining the New Netherland Settlers Project. While I still have much work to do on my own family tree, I'd like to add appropriate profiles to this project. I also enjoy working on other non-direct descendant relatives as I stumble upon them. 

I appear to have multiple persons who would fit in this project but just one example is Cornelis Cornelisz van Voorhout (abt. 1621 - aft. 1668). His wikitree ID is van_Voorhout-5.
