My great great great grandfather, John Griffiths Trenerry was baptised in Sth Molton Devon c 1817 by the Rev John Russell. When Rev. Russell moved to his next parish, he bred the dog named after him :The Jack Russell.

Yes.  My George Singleton of Liverpool bred greyhounds and entered them in the courses in the 1870's.
