I have been at a dead end with Maria/Mariah/May for nearly 3 years. Info on censuses have Maria/Marie/Mariah/May born in New Orleans or Louisiana and her with parents from Ireland or England. I have found births records for 9 of Maria and Thomas' 11 children most of which were born when the couple lived in Kings County, NY, before moving to NJ (where Thomas was born). The 1900 census has Maria listed as married for 43 years (Thomas died in 1897, Maria in 1906) and had 8 of 11 children still living. I have seen many birth records that list the mothers maiden name and was surprised not any of the birth records I found listed any last name for Maria, but then I started wondering if her maiden name could also be Layton or maybe Leighton. I recently received DNA results with 67% British, 13% Ireland, and 8% Italy/Greece (remainder traces in East and West Europe, Iberian, Scandanavian). I have an ancestry.com and on FamilySearch.org accounts with trees. Any help would be appreciated.
