I think yes. My gr-gr-grandfather had two children by his third wife when he was in his 70s.  The wife was in her 30s.  I don't think the reverse in those days would've been possible.

Thanks Liz , I hope I'm as well preserved when I get to his age.

I looked up Ringmer on the map and found one in East Sussex, just north east of Brighton, was there another Ringmer in Essex?

Until I started researching my family tree I did not realise how wide spread the name Plummer was.

Plummer seems to be a popular surname from the south of England.

Regards.

I think it's possible someone copied bad rootsweb info.  In Burke's Peerage,  (check thepeerage.com online)   A William Plummer/Plumer married Frances Dorothy Cary July 12, 1760.  She was the daughter of Lucius Charles Cary  7th Viscount Falkland.  The Cary family of the 1500s were cousins to Queen Elizabeth the First on her mother's side.  She arranged top notch marriages for them and there don't seem to be any Plummers among them.I didn't go through all the Cary females but did cross reference the Plummer/Plumer men
Yep. Found them in ancestry.com   where William is born 1540, Frances born 1549 and WALTER is born 1616  so his mother was 67 when he was born.
