George MacKay born Edinburgh 20/9/1787

Question

He seems to be my Wifes great grandfather x4. Most of his children were born in Edinburgh (dont know his wifes name). Then there is a gap of a number of years & George Mackay-1197 is listed as a child born in Ballymoney N Ireland in 1827, I cannot confirm that they are father & son. Can anyone help please?

There is a family tree on Ancestry that mirrors that here but there are no sources for George (indeed, no spouse, just that he's born in 1787).

A quick search does not highlight any sources for George jr and his wedding so I can only assume that evidence is in undigitised parish records.
