Why Do I Get These Notices Of Merge Rejections?

Occasionally, I receive notices of rejected merges, like "Merge of VanWestervelt-1 and Westervelt-97 rejected."

The problem is:

  • I am not a Profile Manager for either profile
  • I am not a member of the Project that is a profile manager
  • I am not on the Trusted List for either profile
  • I did not propose the merge.

Why am I getting these notices when I have had nothing whatsoever to do with either profile?

I occasionally get them also, usually two or three on the same day. I scratch my head. It hasn't happened often enough, to make an irritation.

Dutch Roots Project WikiTree Privacy Level: Private with Public Biography and Family Tree (Yellow)  is on the trusted list you dont get those emails...

Magnus, That is what I said.  I AM getting the notices, but I am not in the Project or connected in any other way to the profiles.
Ok sorry I thought that maybe they use an email address that is forwarding to a distribution list.....

When you say notices is that emails?

My understanding is that the Watchlist is created from the profiles you are profile manager for or in the trusted list....

Could maybe be worth to check if the profile is in the watchlist somehow...
Nope, neither profile is on my Watchlist.  (I did just receive an email notice that merge was completed.)
Like Anne B, I've had occasional small batches of these.
I've received a few of these myself. I have no idea what's going on. If anybody sees a pattern please post. At some point we'll need to spend some real time digging into this.
I do have some Westover and Westhoffer profiles on my Watchlist.  Could receiving notice about Westervelt it be related to that?
I don't think so, Vic. It's got to be something about how we record who proposed and approved a merge/match in our matches database. Surname variants now matter for MatchBot, but not for records in that database.
