What "markup" is used to only show biography information on the edit page?

I have found a profile that contains email addresses in the biography and was wanting to format it so the addresses are still visible on the edit page, but aren't displayed on the public profile.

I know there is a way, but I haven't managed to find the reference where it would be located.

Thanks Cynthia!
Just to supplement Cynthia's answer: Specifically, it's the comment tag, like this <!-- enter what you want to hide from the display here. -->
Thanks Chris,

I have added them to Shepard-1698 and I think they are very handy for letting people include details in a profile, but not display it to the general public.

Cheers!
