The July Connection Combat will be coming up soon.

Who do you think we should have face off this time?

Yesterday was Canada Day, perhaps Canadians?

Share your ideas below.

Thanks!

Idea topics:

Canada Day - famous Canadians

Fourth of July (Independence Day) - famous people involved in the American Revolution

July 17th is Yellow Pig Day - dedicated to two mathematicians, Michael Spivak and David C. Kelly

July 24 is Pioneer Day - dedicated to Mormons

It's also Amelia Earhart Day

July 31 is Archaeology Day

So lots of varied choices there - and more days like this, if you want to check out out...

Amelia is already connected - strike that one from the list...

Founder of the Mormons, Brigham Young is also connected. There might be other famous Mormons if you still wanted to look.
I've been working on adding and connecting most of the early Mormons for the LDS Pioneer project, and it usually only takes me 10 minutes or so to find a connection to the tree. It wouldn't be much of a challenge.
Hmm. Charles Stanley Monck, the man who issued the royal proclamation for Canada Day, is already connected.

Here's a possibility - this is the guy who renamed "Dominion Day" to "Canada Day" in 1946. *WHOOPS* - Ahem - first PROPOSED they rename it to Canada Day - apparently his bill was shot down at the time. But still...

I can't find a profile for him at the moment...
And how about the guy who wrote the French lyrics for O Canada.

Another guy I can't find a profile for...

In France it's the fête nationale or Bastille day on the 14th.  This man http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Lafayette-38 links both the French and American Revolutions  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Declaration_of_the_Rights_of_Man_and_of_the_Citizen(  I suspect he might be difficult.  I had thought of Thomas Paine but he's already linked)

I bet it would be hard to find an unconnected Mormon! :-)

Great ideas, Scott.

One thing to keep in mind: the winning person ends up getting featured the month after the Connection Combat game. So, for most of the people who see it, the relevant month is August instead of July.

What about something to do with the Somme, it's been 100 years this year, and a lot of remembrance events are happening like the #wearehere event

How about two explorers who were both born in July?

Roald Amundsen and Edmund Hillary

Nice idea. And for those of us in the northern hemisphere, their photos will help us think cool thoughts!
