Detaching a profile from parents

Question

Ryves -72 was born in Dorset and died in Iwerne Courtney Dorset in 1564.

Unfortunately he is linked to parents born in Virginia , a century later.

There are two comments on his page (one from me and one from Mickey Anonymous) There has been no response and it doesn't appear that the profile manager has contributed since 2013.

I would like to give him what I think is  his correct parent http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Ryves-85  and correct death date (1566 from parish records) He's a really important figure in this lineage since he married his cousin and rejoined two sides of the Ryves family and estates.   

Do I have to go through the unresponsive manager process to unlink the profile or just use common sense and go ahead and do it?

I would make the appropriate corrections & add an explanation why in the comments section.
