Sourcing and Protected Profiles

Why are some Acadian profiles protected when they have not yet been properly sourced??? I just changed Pierre Babin (Babin-91) which is protected but was poorly sourced. Accepted/approved sources for Acadians can only/should only come from the list at <http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Category:Source_Acadienne

So No 1, I am asking what does it mean to be "protected" if someone still must improve the profile and the sources.

And No 2 why aren't the valid sources being used instead of junk sources?

thanks for your answers.

Hi! See this page for more information about protected profiles. The main reason a profile would be protected before it's fully developed & sourced would be to preserve the LNAB. Cheers, Liz
