Hi,

If I export a tree from Ancestry which has sources then import it later on after using it in another family tree software will the sources be added to Ancestry again? and will it stop hints from coming up for those sources?

When you export a Gedcom from Ancestry to Wikitree, any sources attached come with it. However, they are not in a format accessible to anyone that doesn't have an Ancestry subscription. They can see the Gedcom detail, but not all the content in the source.

If you later export the same info via Gedcom from another family tree software to Wikitree, you will be asked to exclude duplicate profiles prior to Gedcom approval.

Ancestry hints will still come up for records that you do not already added to your Ancestry tree.

thanks for replying,

I don't think I explained it well, I want to export my tree from ancestry and use it in a program on my PC, if at a later date I want to import it back into ancestry after adding data in the program on my PC will ancestry still include the sources that were on it when exported from ancestry?
B, you'll need to explore Ancestry.com user support / help for an answer to your question. Good luck.
Generally yes, you can do what you want B. If you are using Family Tree Maker you have no need to use GEDCOM's as Family Tree Maker communicates directly with Ancestry in uploading and downloading trees.

Keep in mind that GEDCOM's don't contain any images.
