I think I live in William Dixon's, or his son William's house, in Delaware

I live in a house in Christiana Hundred (now Greenville, Delaware). On several buildings on my property, the initials "WD" are carved into the cornerstones, with dates.  I have never been able to find out who "WD" was.  I was at a party the other night across the Hoopes Reservoir which is in my back yard.  The reservoir was once a deep valley.  The host told me his house was built by William Dixon, and that they farmed the high grounds around the valley.  Therefore, I am assuming that my house and its outbuildings were all part of the same farm or the Dixon family's holdings.

I have always wanted to know who the builder of my house was, and now I think I have an idea.  I gather that since your ancestor died in Christiana Hundred he may be the one.  I would be happy to send photos of my house to you, as well as contact my neighbor to see if he can get more information for you.  Could you tell me more about the people who roamed my halls a few centuries ago?

how completely cool!  I descend from John Dixon, but don't know if John is related to William. I agree with your neighbor that WD is likely William Dixon... but which William Dixon is a huge question. for the most information about William, check out http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Dixon-357 - he's the father of the William where you posted this. Do you know what year the house was built?  And I'd love a picture! my e-mail's ancestor  [at]  2listen.us

Thanks!
