According to WikiTree profile: Elizabeth De Meur, they both died in 1916.

One at Penshurst NSA 2222 and the other at  Hurstville NSW 2220. The distance between Penshurst and Hurstville is only 1.4 km or 3 minutes away from one another.

I did not get a lot of information at familysearch.org on this couple. Maybe another source would be better able to answer your question.

Thank you very much for that information on Thedore de Meur.  I've only recently dicovered he was from Italy and good to know he at least survived the 2 years hard labour.

Hello Barbara Bennet (Nee De Meur) and Ellen Smith,

I am currently researching my family history and have come across this in my family tree. Theodore Arthur De Meur and Elizabeth Smith (Dark) De Meur are my 3rd Great-Grandparents. My line of heritage falls through their daughter, Jospephine M (1864).

My mother and I were quite shocked to discover this story!

I am more than happy for you to contact me through my profile by PM if you would like to discuss this more. I am still piecing togther Theodore Arthur DeMeur's parents and linage.

Warm Regards,

Rachel Groot Obbink (Nee Humphry).
